You’ve probably heard about the numerous Xbox 360 malfunctions, including the dreaded 3 Red Rings of Death. PS3 owners may enjoy a much more stable and reliable console, it doesn’t rule out the possibilities of software or hardware failures.
The PS3 is a machine built with a lot of complex components, and it is just as easy for the Playstation 3 to freeze or fail when something stops working properly. It is a risk all electronic devices carry.
Imagine you’ve been busy at work lately, and you haven’t touched your PS3 in a long time. But now things are moving ahead of schedule, and you have some spare time this week. There’s a game that has been sitting on the shelf for far too long, and you really want to finish it up while you have the time now. You boot up the PS3, put the disc in and started the game. The screen went black then it freezes. You wait a while for it to continue, but nothing happens.
Thinking it is caused by the fact that you didn’t touch the PS 3 for so long; perhaps a restart should fix it. So, you force shut down the PS3 and boot it again. The screen went black the game’s intro never showed up. There is no yellow light yet on the indicator, but you do have the PS3 freezing problem.
PS3 freezing is not as serious as the dreaded orange light, which is PS3’s equivalent of the 3 Red Rings of Death. It means that your console can still run but are prone to hardware failing that causes the freezing. The most basic cause for the PS3 to start freezing up is heat related problems.
How often do you touch your own console after playing 5 hours on it? Or how often do you turn off the power after using it? You along with countless people would shake their head and answer no or don’t know to these questions.
If you look at the back of the console, you can see a ventilation area for the PS3. That is where most of the heat is dispersed out. When the ventilation of the PS3 is clogged with dust, the heat inside the console can build up quickly and can cause the PS3 freezing problem. The Playstation 3 is no different from the PC as you need to clean the ventilation once a while to ensure a smooth air flow.
Another good advice is to avoid putting your PS3 in direct contact with any heat source. Keep it away from direct sunlight and do not put it on top of another electronic appliance like the DVD player. The heat does not transfer into the PS3 straight away when you put it near those things but imagine how hot it can get when you start playing it for hours. Even the coolest device will start heating up when it is left alone near a heat source for hours.
While Sony may want you to believe the PS3 is the all-in-one home entertainment system to end all that you can leave on forever, it’s still a gaming console at the end of the day, and it still needs time off to cool down whenever you’re not using it. If you want to have your PS3 error fixed in a short period of time, you should buy a PS3 repair guide. This is a cheap, quick, safe, and easy way you should think about.
